In 2006, Brandon Routh took over the role of Clark Kent/Superman from Christopher Reeve, with Superman Returns being a tribute sequel to Reeve’s series of four films. Routh received positive reviews for his portrayal of Superman in Superman Returns, but the film underperformed at the box office compared to Warner Bros.’ expectations, leading them to scrap plans for a sequel and instead opt for a reboot. This left Routh with a relatively brief tenure as the Man of Steel.

Routh mentioned that his view of Superman is unique due to his previous association with the series. “I approach it from a different angle,” he said, adding, “As I watch him handle the complex Superman situations during his initial conversation with Lois and Clark in the apartment, I become more engaged. Then, the family aspects particularly resonated with me. It’s a large film with many layers. I need to rewatch it.

As a diehard fan, I can’t help but feel excited about the journey we embarked on last December with the adult animated series Creature Commandos, which marked the beginning of the DC Universe’s shared storyline. Looking forward, there are several upcoming installments that I can hardly wait for, including Peacemaker Season 2 and Lanterns, as well as the Superman-esque spinoff featuring Milly Alcock in Supergirl. And if you thought that was it, think again! An R-rated horror flick focusing on Batman’s terrifying foe, Clayface, is slated to start filming later this year. The anticipation is real!
