Brad Pitt’s ‘Athletic Ability’ Impressed F1 Movie Co-Producer Lewis Hamilton

The director of F1, Joseph Kosinski, shared insights about Brad Pitt’s role in the movie during a recent interview. He praised Pitt’s dedication to staying in shape and his skill behind the wheel. In the storyline, Pitt portrays Sonny Hayes, a former Formula One racer who re-enters the sport to coach Joshua “Noah” Pierce (Damson Idris), a promising newcomer, for the APXGP team.

Director Joseph Kosinski lauds Brad Pitt’s driving ability

In a recent conversation with India Today, I learned about the fitness regimen that Brad Pitt followed while filming for Formula One.

Kosinski shared that it’s clear Pitt takes good care of his health, and this was advantageous for the movie since driving Formula One cars requires immense physical effort. The director of Top Gun: Maverick made this observation.

Kosinski pointed out that only individuals with an athletic background are capable of operating Formula One vehicles, and he further mentioned that filming scenes in these cars could last up to eight or ten hours each day, which he described as being extremely physically taxing.

Later on, Kosinski emphasized Brad Pitt’s innate talent behind the wheel, stating that without it, the movie wouldn’t have been possible. He mentioned as well that Lewis Hamilton, the Formula One racer who also contributed to the film production, was taken aback by Pitt’s physical prowess.

In the interview, Kosinski observed a similarity between Pitt and Cruise, pointing out that they are both highly motivated individuals who put in considerable effort.

As a gamer diving deep into every level of my game development, I can say that the director emphasized their dedication to each aspect of filmmaking – from crafting the initial script right through to the final cut. Kosinski highlighted that Pitt took a more laid-back approach during the process compared to Cruise, but never wavered in his determination to deliver an unparalleled gaming experience for fans.

In June 2025, movie F1 will be premiered in cinemas all over the USA, on the 27th of that month. The screenplay for this film was crafted by Ehren Kruger, who collaborated with Kosinski in shaping the storyline.

In addition to Pitt and Idris, this movie features Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Kim Bodnia, Tobias Menzies, and Shea Whigham as part of its star-studded cast.
