Brad Pitt, a renowned Academy Award-winning actor, has agreed to star in the leading position for A24’s forthcoming movie version of “The Riders“, which is based on Tim Winton’s 1994 novel with the same title. This venture will be helmed by Edward Berger, known for his work on “Conclave”, as director, and David Kajganich, who has written the screenplay. Interestingly, both Berger and Kajganich are also expected to assume the roles of producers for this project.
2026 marks the start of production across various European sites, following A24 securing the rights to the project. A24 is set to fund and manage the worldwide cinema release of this movie. Notably, Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss, Brad Pitt, Jeremy Kleiner, and Dede Gardner will jointly produce through their respective companies – Scott Free and Plan B Entertainment.
What is The Riders about?
The narrative unfolds around Fred Scully (played by Pitt), who, following two years of travel across Europe, finds himself in Ireland with his wife and daughter. Impulsively, they purchase an ancient farmhouse near a castle at Jennifer’s whim. While Scully dedicates weeks to renovating the house, Jennifer returns to Australia to sell their belongings. However, when Fred arrives at Shannon Airport to welcome Jennifer and their 7-year-old daughter, it is only Billie who steps out – without Jennifer, and with no explanation or word left behind. This moment shatters Scully’s life completely.
Brad Pitt’s upcoming projects include Joseph Kosinski’s anticipated sports action drama F1, co-starring Damson Idris from Snowfall. Currently, he is working on the production of David Ayer’s action-adventure film Heart of the Beast, where he portrays a former Army Special Forces soldier surviving in the wilderness with his military dog. Notably, Pitt will reteam with director David Fincher for the Netflix sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
