Brad Pitt Is a Formula One Driver in Top Gun: Maverick Director’s F1 Movie Trailer

A new trailer for the F1 movie starring Brad Pitt has been released.

In June of this year, the film “F1,” a joint production between Warner Bros. Pictures and Apple Original Films, will be screening in U.S. theaters. Brad Pitt portrays the main character, a Formula One racer, in the movie, which is helmed by director Joseph Kosinski, known for Top Gun: Maverick.

What happens in the F1 trailer?

The F1 trailer presents fresh clips featuring Brad Pitt reprising his role as Sonny Hayes, who is back in the world of Formula One racing after retiring due to a devastating crash. Javier Bardem from “No Country for Old Men” takes on the role of Ruben, Sonny’s Formula One team owner and confidant, while Damson Idris portrays a novice driver that Pitt’s character guides.

As a gamer, I can’t wait to dive into the thrilling world of Formula 1 racing! In this game, I find myself stepping back into the cockpit as a veteran driver, joining forces with Damson Idris, my APXGP teammate. This isn’t just any team; we’re part of a fictional powerhouse on the grid. According to Warner Bros. Pictures, the movie was filmed during actual Grand Prix weekends, putting us right in the heat of competition against the legends of the sport.

Alongside Kerry Condon from “The Banshees of Inisherin,” Tobias Menzies known for his work in “Outlander,” and Kim Bodnia famous for his role in “Pusher,” are part of the cast of F1.

Besides Top Gun: Maverick, Kosinski has also directed movies such as Tron: Legacy (2010), Oblivion (2013), Only the Brave (2017), and Spiderhead (2022). He is also credited for creating the storyline of Twisters, a film set to release in 2024, featuring Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones.

In collaboration with Jerry Bruckheimer, Lewis Hamilton, Jeremy Kleiner, Dede Gardner, and Chad Omen, Kosinski and Pitt are working on a film that also includes production by the renowned producer, Jon Kosinski, and Pitt. Ehren Kruger (Top Gun: Maverick, Transformers: Age of Extinction) penned the script for this movie, with Daniel Lupi taking on an executive producer role. The music score is being composed by Hans Zimmer.

On June 27, 2025, the F1 movie is set for release in U.S. cinemas and IMAX screens, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
