Box Office Results: Novocaine Overtakes Mickey 17, Looney Tunes & Opus Both Bomb

The United States box office didn’t have a particularly great weekend.

Novocaine was the top-grossing film at the domestic box office this past weekend, earning approximately $8.7 million over the course of three days. It edged out Steven Soderbergh’s Black Bag and Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17, which both took in $7.5 million during the same timeframe.

The past three days, however, marks the lowest-grossing weekend at the domestic box office in 2025 thus far, per Deadline. The total domestic pull was $54.7 million, which is around a million less than Super Bowl Weekend, which brought in $55.8 million.

The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie sadly failed to find an audience, as it only made around $3 million. The A24 Opus movie with Ayo Edebiri and John Malkovich didn’t even crack the top ten, as it came in around $1 million in total.

Disney’s Snow White is expected to liven up the box office this upcoming weekend. The success of Robert De Niro’s latest film, The Alto Knights, which also opens on Friday, remains uncertain.

This represents a 60% drop compared to its previous earnings, and its total box office collection now stands at $33.2 million in its second week.

The movie’s total earnings now stand at $41.3 million after five weeks in release.

9). In 2,294 theaters (a decrease of 661), NEON’s Monkey film earned $705,000 on Friday, $1 million on Saturday, and $680,000 on Sunday, totaling $2.46 million over the weekend, a decrease of 37%. The current total stands at $35.2 million in its fourth week.

10). Final Exhale (Week 3) – A decrease of 429 theaters, with a Friday gross of $650K (down 44%), followed by a Saturday gross of $1M and a Sunday gross of $620K, resulting in a 3-day total of $2.3M (also down 44%). The current total stands at $18.5M after three weeks.
