Box Office Results: Lilo & Stitch Scores Big Again, Karate Kid Underperforms

Over the weekend, I’m thrilled to say that Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch outshone every fresh competitor at our domestic box office! What a triumph!

Over the weekend just passed, Lilo & Stitch added an additional $63 million to its U.S. earnings, bringing its overall domestic total to a staggering $280 million. On the other hand, Mission: Impossible 8 maintained its grip with a weekend haul of $27.3 million.

In contrast to expectations, Karate Kid: Legends didn’t do as well as anticipated, with its actual earnings being $21 million instead of the projected $35 million, according to Deadline. On the other hand, Final Destination: Bloodlines continues to generate income in the US, adding another $10.8 million to its total. The latest entry, Bring Her Back from A24, managed around $7 million during its debut week.

1). In its fourth week, Disney’s Lilo & Stitch played in approximately 4,410 theaters, earning $17 million on Friday (a 70% drop), followed by $25.6 million on Saturday and $20.4 million on Sunday, totaling $63 million for the three-day weekend (down 57%). To date, the film has grossed a total of $280.1 million in its second week.

The third week of Final Destination: Bloodlines (NL) earned $10.8 million over the weekend, which is a decrease of 43% compared to the previous week. The total earnings for this movie so far are $111.7 million. On Friday, it made $3.2 million, followed by $4.4 million on Saturday and $3.1 million on Sunday.

Movie titled “Sinners” (previously known as WB 2,138) screened in 1,384 theaters this week, earning $1.55 million on its first day (-35% compared to the previous day). On Saturday, it grossed $2.1 million, and on Sunday, it made $1.5 million, totaling $5.22 million for the three-day period (-39% compared to the opening weekend). The movie’s total earnings now stand at $267 million after seven weeks in theaters.

7). As a movie enthusiast, I’m sharing the box office performance of “Thunderbolts (Dis)” from last weekend: It was shown in approximately 2,520 theaters and earned $1.3M on its opening day, which was a 48% drop compared to its previous day. The following day, it made $2M, and on Sunday, it brought in $1.5M, totaling $4.8M for the weekend – a 50% decrease from its initial earnings. Its current total stands at $181.8M, with week 5 behind us.

8). Friendship (A24 film) is playing in 1,293 theaters (+238 from previous week), with Friday earnings of $780K (-56% compared to last day), Saturday revenue of $1M, and Sunday intake of $766K. The total for a three-day period is $2.5M (-44%) and the cumulative box office collection for the week stands at $12.3M.

9). In 1995 (“The Last Rodeo” was released in theaters with a total of -210 screens, and on its first Friday it grossed $642,000, followed by $876,500 on Saturday and $620,000 on Sunday. This gives it a 3-day total of $2.14 million, which is a decrease of 60%, bringing its total earnings to $10.75 million in its second week.
