As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours immersed in virtual worlds, I can tell you that Moana 2 is currently ruling my real-life box office just like how I dominate games of Candy Crush Saga or Fortnite. The movie has been unstoppable, outperforming even the highly anticipated Kraven the Hunter and The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.
Moana 2 maintains its dominance in U.S. theaters, outperforming Kraven the Hunter and The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.
Over the weekend past, Moana 2 added an extra $26.6 million to its U.S. box office earnings, raising its total to $337.5 million in its third week. Wicked followed closely behind, earning another $22.5 million this weekend, bringing its domestic total to $359 million.
In simpler terms, newly introduced characters like Kraven the Hunter from the Sony Spider-Man Universe and The War of the Rohirrim from The Lord of the Rings had tough debuts. Unfortunately, the live-action Spider-Man universe’s opening weekend only managed to earn $11 million, while the animated Lord of the Rings film grossed $4.6 million during its first release.
It’s expected that Moana 2 will lose its spot at the top next week, with new releases such as Mufasa: The Lion King, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and Babygirl set to premiere in cinemas.
