Box Office Results: Deadpool & Wolverine Spoils The Crow’s Debut

As a die-hard fan of Marvel and all things action-packed, I can’t help but feel elated seeing Deadpool & Wolverine continuing their box office dominance yet again! With each passing weekend, they’re not just claiming the top spot, but also etching their names deeper into the annals of Marvel’s record books. It’s a thrill ride that I wouldn’t trade for anything else!

In a fifth weekend, Deadpool and Wolverine’s movie continued its reign, earning $18.3 million (-39%), bringing its domestic total to an astounding $577.2 million and a global total of $1.2 billion. This places it as the 8th highest-grossing Marvel film, trailing behind Iron Man 3 ($1.215 billion) and Black Panther ($1.334 billion).

As a gamer, I was quite surprised to see that last week’s top dog, Alien: Romulus, took a 61% nosedive in its second week. This is actually an improvement compared to the 71% drop that Alien: Covenant experienced. The Fede Alvarez sequel has managed to rake in $72.5M domestically and $225.4M globally, which I hope will be enough to greenlight a new installment.

This week saw several new films falling short of expectations. Channing Tatum’s latest release, Blink Twice, earned only $7.3 million in 3,067 cinemas, adding another flop to his list. Similarly, Lionsgate’s adaptation of The Crow disappointingly debuted with a dismal $4.6 million.

In a more optimistic light, according to Deadline, Sony’s religious film, The Forge, grossed a strong $6.6 million across 1,818 theaters and received an exceptional A+ rating from CinemaScore.

This week’s movie lineup is rather limited: we have the re-release of Edgar Wright’s beloved comedy-horror film Shaun of the Dead, the sports drama You Gotta Believe, and two suspenseful films titled AfrAId and Slingshot. The action-packed duo of Deadpool & Wolverine will likely continue their reign for one more weekend before Beetlejuice returns on September 6.
