Box Office Results: Captain America 4 & Last Breath Lead 2025’s Lowest-Grossing Weekend Yet

It wasn’t a particularly good weekend at the domestic box office.

As a gamer, I’m pumped to share that Marvel’s Captain America 4, aka Captain America: Brave New World, dominated this past weekend at the U.S box office with a whopping $15 million! This brings its domestic total to an astounding $163.6 million. On the other hand, Focus Features’ Last Breath made a solid debut in second place, earning approximately $7.8 million during its initial week here in the U.S.

By the deadline, this past weekend saw the lowest-earning box office performance of 2025 so far, with a collective earnings of $53.3 million from the top ten movies in the U.S. This figure is lower than the revenue generated during the Super Bowl weekend, which amounted to $55.8 million.

Next week marks the release of Bong Joon Ho’s film, Mickey 17, which is eagerly anticipated to revitalize our local box office. Meanwhile, Steven Soderbergh’s Black Bag and the movie featuring Jack Quaid, titled Novocaine, are set to hit screens the following weekend.
