Borderlands Trailer Unleashes the Chaos of Eli Roth’s Video Game Movie

As a longtime fan of the Borderlands video game series, I’ve spent countless hours exploring the chaotic and unpredictable world of Pandora. The upcoming movie adaptation, starring my beloved characters and boasting an impressive cast, has me more than excited!

Lionsgate has released the last preview for the upcoming “Borderlands” movie, based on the video game, which hits theaters next month.

The newly released Borderlands trailer showcases its stellar ensemble and provides additional insights into the storyline. Some clips from the earlier trailer are repeated, but dedicated fans will find new elements worth noticing in this installment. Unfortunately for those trying to distinguish Borderlands from Guardians of the Galaxy, this trailer may fuel more comparisons rather than diminish them.

Final Borderlands trailer drives into view

In the tale of Borderlands, a motley crew of underdogs sets out on a quest to rescue a young girl believed to possess incredible power that is beyond our imagination. This narrative stems from Gearbox’s highly successful shooter game series, which debuted in 2009 and has given rise to five significant installments, including the 2022 fantasy-themed spin-off, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.

As a seasoned sci-fi enthusiast and avid reader of intriguing synopses, I find the Lionsgate production to be a thrilling amalgamation of adventure, mystery, and camaraderie. In this captivating tale, our protagonist, Lilith, an infamous rogue with a shrouded past, is compelled to journey back to her native planet, Pandora. Her mission: to locate the missing daughter of the cosmos’ most formidable villain, Atlas.

In this film, Cate Blanchett from “The Lord of the Rings” and Kevin Hart of “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” join forces with Jack Black from “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” Also featured are newcomers Ariana Greenblatt and Florian Munteanu, as well as Jamie Lee Curtis known for her role in “Halloween.” The project is helmed by Eli Roth, director of “Hostel” and “Thanksgiving,” with a screenplay penned by Craig Mazin, the creative mind behind “The Last of Us.”

Borderlands rides into theaters on August 9, 2024.
