As a diehard fan of the video game, I was excited to see how director Eli Roth would bring this vibrant world to life on the big screen. However, the film’s global box office earnings, estimated at around $33 million, fell far short of its budget, which ranged from $110-120 million. The disappointing financial performance was mirrored in the negative reviews it received from both fans and critics alike.
During a conversation with analysts following the release of Lionsgate’s Q2 financial report on November 7, 2024, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Feltheimer discussed the numerous challenges encountered in the release of the film “Borderlands.

Consequently, Tim Miller took charge of these reshoots as he was involved in Deadpool and Terminator: Dark Fate. Initially, Craig Mazin was assigned to write the film, but he withdrew from the project in June 2023.
