What happens in the Bookworm trailer?
The video presents Fisher as a daring young girl embarking on a camping expedition with her long-lost illusionist father. After many years apart, he resurfaces in her life. Following its first screening at the 2024 Fantasia International Film Festival last July, the movie is now set for its official release on October 18, both in cinemas and on Video On Demand platforms.
The movie “Bookworm” was helmed by Ant Timpson, who also wrote the script with Toby Harvard. The main actors include Wood as Strawn Wise, Fisher as Mildred, Morgana O’Reilly as Zo, Nikki Si’ulepa as Dotty, Theo Stakes as Reginald, Vanessa Stacey as Angelina, Michael Smiley among others. The story revolves around 11-year-old Mildred (Fisher), whose routine life takes an unexpected twist when her long-lost father, Strawn Wise (Wood), a once-successful Las Vegas magician who has fallen on hard times, makes a sudden return. Previously, following a mystical encounter with the now less enchanting Strawn, Mildred’s mother relocated to New Zealand. A humorous incident forces Strawn to take care of Mildred while her mother is hospitalized. Their initial escapade? Venturing into the wilderness in search of the legendary Canterbury Panther. As this odd pair embarks on their journey, they encounter magic tricks, a thrilling quest, and plenty of laughter. In the process, they might just manage to mend their fractured family bonds.
