Max has ended Bookie after completing two seasons. Although the streaming platform hasn’t disclosed specific reasons, an official statement from a Max representative confirms this decision. As Warner Bros. Discovery works on fine-tuning their content strategy, there is much anticipation about potential adjustments in future programming.
Max pulls the plug on Bookie Season 3
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve got some news that might interest fellow binge-watchers: I’ve just learned that Max has decided to pull the plug on the comedy series “Bookie” after two seasons. According to Variety, the show premiered on their platform back in November 2023, and its second season was added last December. Known for his hilarious portrayal of Danny Colavito, a seasoned bookie dealing with the legalization of sports gambling in LA, Sebastian Maniscalco graced our screens throughout this series.
A representative from Max commented to Deadline: “For two successful seasons, the creative duo Chuck Lorre and Nick Bakay, along with their side-splitting cast, headed by Sebastian Maniscalco, provided us with endless laughter as they explored the intriguing realm of sports betting. Regrettably, we won’t continue with a third season, but we are thankful for collaborating with such an extraordinarily talented group on this uproarious comedy.
In this production, we have Omar Dorsey as Ray Ballard, Andrea Anders taking on the role of Sandra, Vanessa Ferlito cast as Lorraine Colavito. Jorge Garcia is playing Hector, Maxim Swinton has been chosen for Anthony, Rob Corddry will be portraying Walt Dinty, and Selina Kaye will shine as Janelle.
In this production, you’ll find actors like Arnetia Walker, Toby Huss, and Dale Dickey among the main cast. Notable guest stars who graced our screens include Charlie Sheen, Ray Romano, Laraine Newman, and Zach Braff. The hit show “Bookie” was jointly produced by Chuck Lorre Productions and Warner Bros. Television. Executive producers for this project were Chuck Lorre, Bakay, Maniscalco, Andy Tennant, and Judi Marmel.
Maniscalco, a comedian, previously discussed his acting experience and said, “It confirms that what I’m doing is funny because as a comic, I enjoy laughter. I’m growing accustomed to performing with other actors, and I learn something new every day.” (via Variety)
The series ran for 16 episodes over two seasons.
