As a long-time fan of Bong Joon-ho’s cinematic masterpieces, I must admit that the constant rescheduling of “Mickey 17” has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for me. However, having patiently waited for his English-language feature after over a decade since Snowpiercer, I find myself eagerly counting down the days to March 7, 2025.
I can’t contain my excitement as a gamer, but it looks like the release date for the highly anticipated sci-fi comedy, Mickey 17, from renowned filmmaker Bong Joon-ho has been moved yet again by Warner Bros. The movie was initially set to hit theaters on April 18, 2025, but it seems like we’ll have to wait a bit longer to catch this masterpiece on the big screen.
In the movie’s summary, we find that the unanticipated protagonist, Mickey Barnes, finds himself in a remarkable situation where his employment requires an unprecedented dedication to the role… to the point of sacrificing his life on a regular basis.
When is the new Mickey 17 release date?
Initially set for a theater release on March 7, 2025, Mickey 17 has been moved to take its place alongside Ryan Coogler’s blood-soaked vampire flick starring Michael B. Jordan, titled Sinners. This change in schedule puts both films in the same release month as Disney’s live-action Snow White and the pulse-pounding suspense of Novocaine.
According to the 2022 book Mickey7, Bong Joon-ho (known for Parasite and Memories of Murder) is the director of the upcoming movie. The screenplay was co-written by Bong and Edward Ashton. This film is Bong’s most recent English project since directing Snowpiercer with Chris Evans more than a decade ago. The MPA has rated this film R for its violent scenes, pervasive language, sexual content, and drug references.
This movie features Robert Pattinson from “The Batman”, Naomi Ackie known for “Blink Twice”, Steven Yeun starring in “Beef” and “Minari”, Toni Collette renowned for “Hereditary”, Mark Ruffalo recognized from “Avengers: Endgame” and “Poor Things”, Holliday Grainger famous for “The Capture”, Anamaria Vartolomei known for “Happening”, Thomas Turgoose recognized for “This Is England”, among others. The film is produced by Bong, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Dooho Choi. Brad Pitt, Jesse Ehrman, Peter Dodd, and Marianne Jenkins serve as executive producers.
