Bommarillu lyricist Kulasekhar passes away in Hyderabad while undergoing treatment

As a dedicated follower and admirer of Kulasekhar’s work, I find myself deeply saddened by his passing. His lyrics have been an integral part of my childhood memories, and the songs he penned will forever hold a special place in my heart.

As a connoisseur of lifestyle and culture, I’m deeply saddened to share that the revered Telugu lyricist Kulasekhar, who captivated us with his melodious songs in the 2000s, left us on November 26, 2024. He had been battling poor health for some time now, and unfortunately, his illness has taken its toll.

As a connoisseur of cinematic arts, I’ve had the privilege to contribute lyrics to numerous films throughout the years. At the dawn of the new millennium, I struck gold, crafting some of the most unforgettable tunes in the realm of Telugu cinema. The bittersweet news of my departure from this world was broken by Suresh PRO via his digital platform, once known as Twitter.

Through his many collaborations with music director RP Patnaik, Kulasekhar has earned the affection of fans for decades. Kicking off his career as a journalist, he then penned lyrics for more than 100 films, including the Gharshana movie featuring Venkatesh. He is fondly remembered for composing popular songs such as Ranu Ranu Antune Chinnadi, Gajuwaka Pilla, Devude Digi Vachina, Yegire Mabbulalona, and Appudo Ippudu Eppudo from Bommarillu, to name but a few.

Regardless of his fame as a renowned lyricist during his peak years, Kulasekhar unfortunately experienced a significant decline, being branded as a persistent law offender. As reported by Indiaglitz in 2018, the writer, aged 47 at the time, was apprehended by police for allegedly stealing valuable items from a temple dedicated to the Goddess Devi, situated near the Reserve Bank of India staff quarters in Hyderabad.

A complaint was filed against the lyricist by the temple priest, and he was soon arrested after being spotted near another temple. At the time, police confiscated 10 mobile phones worth Rs 50,000, along with other valuables worth Rs 45,000. Additionally, authorities seized debit cards, credit cards, and locks from his bag.

According to the document, the songwriter repeatedly broke the law by taking items belonging to priests and idols starting from 2013. It was during this time that he was initially apprehended after being found stealing from a temple in Kakinada.

After his apprehension, Kulasekhar found himself living in a rental home situated in a different area of Hyderabad, as his family chose to keep their distance from him. As per the same news article, it was claimed that Kulasekhar had composed a song with derogatory content targeted at a specific caste group, which caused outrage within the community and resulted in him being excluded from certain social groups.

It’s said that this incident left him filled with resentment, and he supposedly plotted retribution by targeting individuals from the same group, robbing them. The latest report indicates that Kulasekhar was previously involved in the film project Macherla Niyojakavargam featuring Nithiin.
