Bode officially has roots in Paris.
Designer Emily Adams Bode Aujla has debuted her first overseas store, a 2,500-square-foot establishment, situated on the iconic rue de Valois in Paris. Formerly a restaurant, this location offers a panoramic view of the Ministry of Culture and stands near Rick Owens’ flagship store in the city. Bode, with four retail stores already established in New York and one in Los Angeles, views Paris as a “logical progression,” according to WWD.
In Bode’s New York stores, each product category (such as men’s, women’s, and children’s) is housed separately due to the brand having distinct stores for each offering. However, when entering a foreign market, the LVMH Prize laureate and two-time CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year winner found it essential to consolidate all items in a single location overseas. As she explained, “When we enter a new market, we really wanted everything to be united under one establishment.

The design of the store was overseen by Aaron Aujla, Bode Aujla’s husband who operates Green River Project, his own design company. Significantly, the interior theme stemmed from their shared passion for fly fishing, as evidenced by the bamboo fishing rod greeting visitors at the store’s entrance archway and the lures adorning the walls. Additionally, the shop features seating upholstered with the same French silk materials used in the brand’s shirts and ceilings sheathed in an identical English waxed cotton to their coats.
Bode stated that due to our strong relationships with overseas retail partners, we are confident there’s a demand for our brand’s international retail growth. He strongly advocates the power of retail and its impact on business success. In his opinion, the ideal representation of our brand is through our retail spaces – the ambiance, the aroma, the decoration, the merchandising, and how our staff presents it.
