How did Bobby Witt Jr. get injured?
Bobby Witt Jr. sustained an injury during the fifth inning of the Kansas City Royals’ spring training matchup with the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday. Specifically, a pitch clocked at 95.9 mph from reliever Andrés Muñoz struck his left forearm. After being hit, Witt could be seen grabbing his arm in pain, but he attempted to carry on before ultimately leaving the game and being substituted by Tyler Tolbert.
Later on, The Royals issued an update, revealing that Witt sustained a contusion on his left forearm, and X-rays did not detect any fracture. He’ll undergo further evaluation. Manager Matt Quatraro mentioned that initially, Witt experienced a loss of feeling in his fingers but later recovered the sensation. As per Quatraro, Witt was due to exit the game in the following inning anyway.
As a gamer on the Royals’ squad, I was a pivotal figure in our team’s 2024 season, topping numerous offensive categories and ending up as the runner-up for the American League MVP. Unfortunately, my injury surfaced only a few weeks before our opening day against the Cleveland Guardians on March 27, leaving my readiness for the big day uncertain.
During the same match, it appears Nelson Velázquez from the Royals outfield sustained a potential leg injury while trying to grab a flying ball. At this point, his status remains undetermined. For the time being, spectators are wishing for a swift recovery for Witt.
