Bloat Trailer Sets Release Date for Ben McKenzie Supernatural Movie

Lionsgate has unveiled the trailer for their upcoming supernatural horror film titled “Bloat,” which features Ben McKenzie, known for his work on Gotham. This movie is produced by Timur Bekmambetov, who previously worked on “Searching” and “Unfriended.

Following a chilling near-drowning incident, the family of a young boy is shocked to learn that a legendary lake demon has taken possession of him. In a desperate battle against time, the family strives to rescue the boy’s spirit before the malevolent entity within the child wreaks havoc and drives a wedge between them, aiming to annihilate all those it encounters.

When is the Bloat release date?

Bloat is all set to premiere in theaters and on digital platforms starting March 7. McKenzie will be accompanied by Bojana Novakovic, known for her role in Devil, who plays Hannah; Malcolm Fuller as Steve; Sawyer Jones from Antlers, taking on the role of Kyle; and Kane Kosugi, famous for Godzilla: Final Wars, portraying a character named yet to be revealed.

The movie marks Pablo Absento’s first directorial venture in a full-length film. Apart from him, the cast features Jeff Applegate, Akiyo Komatsu, Miyu Yokota, Ethan Herschenfeld, Zack Niizato, Larry Bull, Rebecca Belson, David Gibson, David Lavine, Asha Etchison, and James Adam Lim. Alongside Bekmambetov, the film is also being produced by Hiroko Oda and Mariya Zatulovskaya, with Enzo Flores acting as executive producer.

McKenzie is stepping into the lead role for a film for the first time in quite some time, having previously taken on supporting characters in films such as “The Report” (2019), “Line of Duty” (2019), and “I Want You Back” (2022). After his appearance in “Bloat”, he’ll next be featured in the crime drama film “Motor City” alongside Alan Ritchson, and in the medical drama series “The Hurt Unit”.
