Blitz Trailer Previews Steve McQueen Historical Drama Starring Saoirse Ronan

The first trailer for Steve McQueen’s Blitz has been released.

“Blitz” is an upcoming historical drama film, produced by McQueen. Featuring Saoirse Ronan, Harris Dickinson, and other talented actors, this movie will make its debut in select U.S. theaters in early November. After that, it will be available on Apple TV+ at a later time.

What is Blitz about?

In the film “Blitz” by Sir Steve McQueen, the story revolves around George, a 9-year-old boy living in London during World War II. His mother, Rita, sends him away to safety in the countryside. However, George, who is both stubborn and eager to reunite with his mother and grandfather in East London, embarks on an adventure. Along the way, he faces great danger, while his mother, devastated by his disappearance, frantically searches for her son.

Besides the main actors, this film features Benjamin Clementine, Kathy Burke, Stephen Graham, Leigh Gill, Mica Ricketts, CJ Beckford, Alex Jennings, Joshua McGuire, Hayley Squires, Erin Kellyman, and Sally Messham in various roles.

In McQueen’s Lammas Park, the film is being made in collaboration with Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner from Working Title Films, Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, and Michael Schaefer from New Regency, as well as Anita Overland and Adam Somner.

Steve McQueen’s cinematic history encompasses movies like “Hunger” (released in 2008), “Shame” (2011), “12 Years a Slave” (2013), “Widows” (2018), and “Occupied City” (2023). In addition, Amazon Prime Video debuted McQueen’s Small Axe, an anthology film series consisting of “Mangrove,” “Lovers Rock,” “Red White and Blue,” “Alex Wheatle,” and “Education,” in November 2022.

Starting October 9, 2024, the movie “Blitz” will have its world premiere as the opening film at the BFI London Film Festival. Later, on November 1, 2024, it will be shown in selected cinemas across the United States.

Blitz will then be available to stream on Apple TV+ on November 22, 2024.
