Blake Lively’s reps react to $400 million lawsuit update
It’s been announced as a victory for the legal team representing Blake Lively, following Justin Baldoni’s decision to withdraw his $400 million lawsuit against her.
Originally, a 400 million dollar lawsuit filed by Baldoni was thrown out in court. At first, his lawyer downplayed this, saying they planned to revise and re-submit the lawsuit. However, that didn’t happen. Instead, Baldoni’s legal team has now announced that they are exploring “alternative legal strategies” rather than modifying their initial claim.
Following this recent turn of events, Blake Lively’s spokesperson released an official statement via JustJared.com. The statement explained that the court has entirely dismissed the $400 million Baldoni-Wayfarer lawsuit. In response to the judge’s decision to dismiss their case, Baldoni’s attorney claimed it was not a significant matter, stating they would amend and refile it. However, as is often the case, this was not accurate. The court’s dismissal of Baldoni’s baseless lawsuit marked a complete victory for them instead.
Regarding the court’s ruling on dismissing the initial counterclaim, Baldoni and his team are not completely conceding defeat. Instead, they are actively exploring alternative legal options. Bryan Freedman stated to Page Six that the court’s decision holds no bearing on the truth that there was neither harassment nor a smear campaign, and it does not impact their firm stance in defending against Ms. Lively’s allegations.
The dispute in court originated when Lively initiated a lawsuit alleging that Baldoni, her co-star and director on It Ends With Us, had sexually harassed her and orchestrated a negative campaign against her. In retaliation, Baldoni filed a countersuit seeking $400 million, which also implicated Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, as well as another lawsuit against The New York Times.
