The dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni has taken an unexpected twist following a courtroom reorganization, causing the previously scheduled deposition of Blake Lively in New York City on Thursday, July 17 to be moved to a different date.
Curious about the reason behind the postponement of Blake Lively’s deposition in her lawsuit against Justin Baldoni? Here are the latest updates.
Blake Lively’s deposition postponed after Judge dismisses Jed Wallace
The unexpected turn of events saw Jed Wallace, an important person in the case, being let go, which consequently postponed Blake Lively’s testimony.
US Weekly acquired legal documents on July 16th that indicate a change in the court schedule for Lively’s deposition. Originally set for July 16th, it has now been rescheduled to July 31st. This adjustment is due to recent advancements in the case, and both legal teams have agreed to this postponement. More specifically, the delay came about following the dismissal of Wallace, a person suspected of being a digital strategist in the case, due to complications related to jurisdiction.
In simpler terms, the court allowed for Jed Wallace to be dismissed, but not definitively. This gives Lively’s team until July 30th to resubmit their claims if they choose to take further action against him. Consequently, this dismissal could change the course of the legal situation. Both Lively and Baldoni’s lawyers have asked for extra time to examine the complaint and prepare accordingly.
In an interview with reporters, a representative from Lively explained that the court’s verdict had no connection to the validity of her accusations against Mr. Wallace. The spokesperson continued, “Ms. Lively acknowledges and respects the Court’s decision… At this time, we are thoroughly assessing our various avenues for ensuring that Mr. Wallace is held responsible for his instrumental part in the retaliatory actions, which were financially compensated by Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars per month.
If Wallace’s return to the case is arranged, his lawyers have said they will request a second round of questioning directed at Blake Lively. However, Michael Gottlieb, representing Lively, argues against this action. He asserts that one seven-hour deposition would suffice to prevent unnecessary repetition and potential harassment. The conflict originates from accusations made by Blake Lively regarding sexual harassment experienced during the production of “It Ends With Us,” specifically against Justin Baldoni. Furthermore, she claims that Jed Wallace manipulated unfavorable media coverage and social media assaults aimed at undermining her reputation.
