Initially a private legal disagreement between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni has escalated into a broader public conversation, with 19 groups advocating for women’s rights now standing behind Lively. The shift comes as these organizations have taken notice and are voicing their concern over the situation, not only supporting Lively’s allegations of sexual harassment but also criticizing Baldoni’s legal strategies. They believe these tactics pose a threat to survivors everywhere by potentially discouraging them from coming forward.
Blake Lively receives support from women’s groups in feud with Justin Baldoni
In a fresh show of solidarity, 14 more organizations such as the National Organization for Women and the National Network to End Domestic Violence have submitted friendly briefs to the court. They are advocating for the dismissal of Justin Baldoni‘s $400 million defamation lawsuit against Blake Lively, raising the number of supporting groups to 19. These organizations claim that Baldoni has employed DARVO tactics (Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender) to suppress Lively and distort the truth.
Additionally, Lively’s group publicly challenged Baldoni for changing his public standpoint. Previously recognized for his feminist messaging through podcasts, interviews, and his popular 2017 TED Talk, Baldoni now confronts accusations of betraying those same principles. As quoted by Lively, “Where he once encouraged men to listen to the women in their lives…to empathize with their pain and truly believe them,” now seems to contradict years of his public image.
On June 5th, Lively’s representative underscored the importance of the backing from 19 entities such as Child USA and Sanctuary for Families in a statement to Us Weekly. The statement highlighted that all these organizations stand together against Justin Baldoni’s actions aimed at destroying a law intended to safeguard women who speak out, solely for his self-protection.
The legal dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni began in December of last year when Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, alleging sexual harassment and harm to her reputation. Baldoni contested these claims and counter-sued Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist for $400 million, charging them with defamation. Both parties have since submitted motions to dismiss certain aspects of the case, and a trial is scheduled for 2026.
