The highly-anticipated premiere of “The It Ends With Us” notably did not include Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively sharing screen time, an absence reportedly requested by Lively herself according to The Hollywood Reporter.
What happened at the It Ends With Us premiere?
As per a recent report on their legal disputes, THR states that Lively and Baldoni’s absence from each other at the film premiere was intentional. According to them, Sony was informed by Baldoni that Lively and her team explicitly forbade his attendance at the premiere event.
Originally, I had been asked to attend a red-carpet event with Baldoni. However, things took an unexpected turn as we reached an agreement that saw him strolling down alone. The main cast followed suit after him, fueling speculation on social media about potential tensions between Lively and Baldoni.
Following the movie’s debut, the strain between Lively and Baldoni persisted, escalating further as reported by THR. It was alleged that Lively requested Sony for Wayfarer Studios, led by Baldoni and Jamey Heath, to submit letters to the PGA (Producers Guild of America) stating Lively’s involvement in the film. This request was carried out under legal pressure, as indicated by them.
Reportedly, Lively requested Sony to take off Baldoni’s “film by” credit from a supporting movie poster during promotions. Later on, Baldoni consented and signed a waiver allowing for the removal of the credit.
Lively’s initial complaint alleges that Baldoni created a hostile work environment
Back in December, I filed a formal complaint against Baldoni due to the unacceptable conditions on the set of “It Ends With Us.” I alleged that the atmosphere had become hostile, leading to an emergency meeting being called. During this meeting, I requested that Baldoni cease sharing explicit videos or images of women, stop discussing his past struggles with pornography, stop talking about sexual experiences in my presence, and also desist from comments regarding my weight.
The claim further states that Wayfarer Studios and the cast supposedly agreed to emphasize Lively’s character’s strength and resilience rather than portray the movie as a depiction of domestic violence during their agreement. However, Lively alleges that Baldoni went back on this agreement and instead talked about the film’s heavy narrative in interviews.
According to Lively’s statement, it was alleged that Baldoni and his public relations manager, Melissa Nathan, brainstormed ideas for a social media smear campaign aimed at damaging her reputation. The filing by Lively encompasses approximately 22 pages of text messages between Baldoni’s PR representative and Nathan, where they expressed a desire to see Lively “discredited.
