Blake Lively’s lawyers are trying to acquire Justin Baldoni’s call logs as part of their efforts in the ongoing legal dispute between the two parties.
Why does Blake Lively want Justin Baldoni’s phone records?
Lively’s legal team has issued subpoenas to mobile service providers AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile, requesting call records from a filmmaker. The subpoena, reported by Variety, also demands the phone records of Baldoni’s publicists Jennifer Abel and Melissa Nathan.
The purpose of the subpoena is to aid Lively’s team in strengthening their claim that Baldoni attempted to tarnish Lively’s reputation via social media. Although they already possess Baldoni’s text messages, phone records could provide evidence that Baldoni and his associates orchestrated additional hidden attacks against Lively.
As a gamer diving into this situation, I can say that the phone logs of each defendant we’re targeting would unveil the entire network of people involved in the smear campaign against Ms. Lively. These records would offer crucial and indisputable evidence not just about who was involved, but also when, where, and how their plot against her unfolded and functioned.
Regarding the subpoena, attorney Bryan Freedman for Baldoni stated that the Lively team is merely trying to net information by searching for phone calls, messages, and location details dating back two years, but they will not uncover anything relevant.
According to Freedman, this extensive search for fish (as a metaphor for information) shows they’re frantically looking for valid evidence to support their clearly untrue statements. However, he asserts, they won’t find any.
Lively’s initial complaint alleges that Baldoni created a hostile work environment
The situation arises from a formal complaint lodged by Lively against Baldoni in December. In this complaint, she described the filming of It Ends With Us as deteriorating to such an extent that an emergency meeting was convened due to her allegations of a toxic work environment. During the meeting, Lively requested that Baldoni cease sharing explicit videos or images of women with her, stop discussing his history of pornography addiction, halt talks about sexual experiences in her presence, and also desist from commenting on Lively’s weight.
The complaint further states that Wayfarer Studios and the cast allegedly agreed to highlight the strong and resilient aspects of Lively’s character rather than labeling the movie as a depiction of domestic violence. However, Lively contends that Baldoni later went back on this agreement, instead discussing the film’s grave subject matter in his interviews.
According to Lively’s statement, it was alleged that Baldoni and his PR manager, Melissa Nathan, brainstormed strategies for a social media smear campaign aimed at damaging her reputation. The 22-page filing by Lively contains text exchanges between Baldoni’s publicist and Nathan, where they expressed a desire to see Lively “discredited.
