It appears that Blake Lively’s legal representatives have filed a motion asking for penalties against Justin Baldoni’s team, claiming they made baseless accusations, one involving Taylor Swift. Specifically, they are seeking compensation for lawyers’ fees and expenses, costs that Lively has had to cover herself.

Blake Lively’s legal team has asked a judge to penalize Justin Baldoni’s team for making unwarranted accusations. According to the court documents, Lively’s team is seeking a formal rebuke for the unfounded claims they made. The actress’s legal team argues that these claims were intended to harass Lively and garner favor in the court of public opinion, as reported by Rolling Stone.

According to the stated motion, Steve Sarowitz, Jamey Heath, Melissa Nathan, Jennifer Abel, along with their legal representatives, are alleged to have deliberately aimed at prolonging the legal process and escalating litigation expenses.

Lively’s group also criticized the “unfair jest” from Justin Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman. Previously, the attorney had proposed taking the actress’ deposition at Madison Square Garden and selling tickets for its online broadcast. The team stated that “Federal courts are intended for the resolution of justice, not for retaliation or publicity.

The attorney for the actress argued, in addition, that the court should discard two letters from Baldoni’s team, which contained inflammatory and inappropriate propositions. The contentious papers claim that Lively used her friendship with Taylor Swift to exert creative control over the decision-making process for ‘It Ends With Us’.

Esra Hudson and Mike Gottlieb, attorneys for Lively, further clarified their stance to PEOPLE. Essentially, they argued that it’s improper to file lawsuits in federal court without legal or factual basis, which could lead to the creation of a harassing media narrative – in simpler terms, they have maintained this approach from the start.

It was mentioned that the Baldoni legal team had been informed about their actions deserving sanctions several weeks prior. Instead of retracting their baseless and annoying allegations, they chose to persist with them. Moreover, they declared that they would encounter the penalties for acting unprofessionally in federal court and turning it into a platform for media spectacle.

The legal dispute between Lively and Baldoni originated in 2024 when Lively officially accused Baldoni of sexual harassment.
