Blake Lively Demands to Keep Her Messages Private Amid Justin Baldoni Lawsuit

As a gamer, I’d say: “Me and my partner, Ryan Reynolds, have stepped up to safeguard our personal conversations with high-profile friends. With the recent twist in the legal battle involving Justin Baldoni, we’re worried that confidential messages might find their way into the public eye. So, we’ve asked the court to keep these chats private to maintain our privacy.

Blake Lively’s lawyers demand her texts with celebs to be private

Meryl Conant Governski, attorney for Lively and Reynolds, made an appearance in a virtual hearing held before Judge Lewis Liman at the Manhattan federal court on Thursday, March 6th. She asked for confidentiality, known as “Attorney’s Eyes Only” protection, for messages exchanged between the celebrity couple and their high-profile friends such as Baldoni and his representatives. It’s worth mentioning that a proposed order to prevent the release of sensitive information by either party is currently being considered by the court.

Governski didn’t specifically reveal which celebrities could be featured in Lively and Reynolds’ text messages to Baldoni’s team. Nevertheless, it’s well-known that the actors from Deadpool and Wolverine are reportedly good friends with figures such as Taylor Swift, Hugh Jackman, Gigi Hadid, Emily Blunt, and John Krasinski.

As a concerned observer, I made it clear during the hearing that there’s a high risk of severe damage if private discussions I had with influential figures, who have no connection to the case, were to end up in the wrong hands. The parties involved might choose to leak information because the potential publicity they could gain outweighs their obligation to abide by the court’s directives. (New York Post)

In response to Lively and Reynolds’ petition for “Attorney’s Eyes Only” protection, Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, deemed it unnecessary. He also found it offensive to even suggest that they might ignore a protective order.

2024 saw Liman abstaining from issuing a verdict, as Lively lodged a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department against Baldoni, along with others, in late December. Following this, Lively and her associates, Reynolds and Leslie Sloan, found themselves on the receiving end of a $400 million lawsuit filed by Baldoni in January 2025. (As reported by NPR)
