Blade’s Mahershala Ali Reveals Status of Marvel Remake

Mahershala Ali, famous for his roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), has expressed readiness to start filming the highly anticipated Blade movie. The character of Blade has been stuck in developmental delays for quite some time and was initially slated for release in October 2024. However, recent updates hint that the project could be moving forward at Marvel Studios.

Mahershala Ali is keen to start production on Marvel’s Blade

As a gamer, imagine me excitedly declaring: “Just like how I’d jump into a new level with enthusiasm, Mahershala Ali attended the premiere of Jurassic World Rebirth in New York. He’s been hinting at his readiness to join forces with Marvel for their upcoming Blade project. ‘Give me a call, Marvel!’ he said to Variety. ‘I’m all set and eagerly waiting to let them know I’m ready.’

In October 2024, it was removed from the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s release calendar.

2024 at Disney’s D23 Brazil event, I, as a fan, was thrilled to receive some exciting news about Blade from Feige! He shared that Marvel holds the character in high regard and appreciates Ali’s interpretation. Feige further assured us that whenever there are changes or scheduling adjustments for a project, we fans are always informed. So, rest easy knowing that the character will indeed make its way into the MCU. (Source: IGN)

More recently, David S. Goyer, who is known for screenwriting and filmmaking, approached Marvel to inquire if they required assistance with their MCU’s Blade franchise. Interestingly, Goyer was responsible for writing the scripts of all three films in the original Blade trilogy starring Wesley Snipes. However, Marvel reportedly turned down his offer, stating that they felt they had successfully figured out the formula and were currently thriving with it.
