As a devoted fan of science fiction and action series, I am beyond excited about Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming show “Blade Runner 2099“. With its production wrapped after six months in Prague, this series promises to be an unforgettable experience. The fact that it stars the incredible Michelle Yeoh is simply the icing on the cake.
Having followed her career for years, I have always been impressed by her versatility and talent. From her role as Madame Morrible in Wicked to her reprisal of Philippa Georgiou in Star Trek: Section 31, Yeoh has shown time and again that she can handle any character with grace and skill.
The intriguing logline for Blade Runner 2099 hints at a complex narrative, filled with action, mystery, and perhaps even some humor – after all, who can resist a widening conspiracy in the year 2099? With such an exceptional cast and talented creators behind it, I have no doubt that this series will be a must-watch for sci-fi enthusiasts everywhere.
And as for the joke: “With Michelle Yeoh on board, who needs a plot when you’ve got talent like that?” – because sometimes all it takes to make a great show is a fantastic cast! I can hardly wait for Blade Runner 2099 to debut on Prime Video.
Following a six-month shoot in Prague, Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming series “Blade Runner 2099” has now completed its filming. As of now, there is no scheduled release date for the action sci-fi show featuring Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh, which will make its debut on Prime Video.
2099 in Los Angeles sees Cora living a life on the run, constantly changing identities much like a chameleon. This is not by choice; it’s a necessity. In an attempt to provide a secure future for her brother, she takes on one last identity. However, this new identity pairs her with Olwen, a Blade Runner nearing the end of her life. Together, they are unwillingly dragged into a deepening conspiracy that could potentially annihilate a city struggling to reemerge and thrive.
Who is involved in the Blade Runner 2099 series?
The sci-fi series “Blade Runner 2099” was initially announced for production in September 2022, with Jodie Comer being the first choice to star as the main character. The cast includes Yeoh as Olwen, Hunter Schafer portraying Cora, Lewis Gribben, Tom Burke, Maurizio Lombardi, Daniel Rigby, Dmitri Abold, Katelyn Rose Downey, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, and Matthew Needham.
The television show is created and overseen by headwriter Silka Luisa, with Jonathan van Tulleken taking on the role of director. Alongside Van Tulleken, the executive producers are Michael Green, Andrew Kosove, Broderick Johnson, Ben Roberts, David W. Zucker, Clayton Krueger, Cynthia Yorkin, Frank Giustra, Isa Dick Hackett, Tom Spezialy, and Richard Sharkey.
Recently, I found myself in the magical world of Wicked alongside Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be returning to my role as Madame Morrible in its sequel, Wicked: For Good, set to premiere in 2025. Apart from Blade Runner 2099, I’ve also taken the helm of the Star Trek: Section 31 cast, where you’ll see me once again as Philippa Georgiou from Star Trek: Discovery.
