In a recent update, Marvel Studios’ Vice President of Production and Development, Nate Moore, disclosed some fresh insights about the upcoming film Black Panther 3, clarifying the speculation surrounding the potential recasting of Chadwick Boseman’s character, T’Challa.
There was talk last month that Marvel might be searching for a different actor to take on the role of T’Challa in upcoming MCU productions, following Chadwick Boseman’s initial portrayal of the character in Captain America: Civil War (2016) and his subsequent appearance in Black Panther (2018).
The character made an appearance in both “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018) and “Avengers: Endgame” (2019). Tragically, Chadwick Boseman, who played this character, passed away at the age of 43 in 2020.
What did Nate Moore say about Black Panther 3 T’Challa recasting rumors?
In a chat with ComicBook, Moore dismissed the speculations about recasting and gave a peek at possible storylines for Black Panther 3. He hinted that the storyline of Captain America: Brave New World, starring Anthony Mackie, could lay the groundwork for the third film.
Moore stated, “To be honest, the stories circulating aren’t accurate. I haven’t had many creative discussions with Ryan Coogler as of now because he’s still working on his film Sinners, which will be released this year. We plan to talk about it later in the year, but whatever you might have read online is not correct, simply because we haven’t begun working on it yet.
He commented: “I’m confident that Wakanda will express an opinion regarding Adamantium’s arrival. Similarly, they already shared their thoughts on Sam Wilson becoming Captain America. It appears they endorse him, providing him with technological assistance. However, Wakanda doesn’t enjoy a friendly relationship with the US government, which could lead to conflicts in various forms. In my view, Wakanda can participate in the same political thriller setting as Captain America because it involves globalization and international politics, so unexpected events might occur.
Last year, it was confirmed by Kevin Feige that a third Black Panther movie is being worked on, following an unintentional reveal about Denzel Washington’s participation in the project.
Other details about Black Panther 3 remain under wraps.
