Now, Coogler has expressed his desire to make this collaboration happen, without revealing specific details about his future plans.

Recently, I found myself intrigued by a potential collaboration with the legendary Denzel Washington in Black Panther 3. During an interview, director Ryan Coogler remained tight-lipped about specifics regarding the project, but his reaction to Washington’s November 2024 comments about the sequel certainly caught my attention – it seems even the mastermind behind Wakanda was taken aback!
During his latest interview on the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, Coogler was queried about whether he’s discussed Black Panther 3 with Denzel Washington or if he has a character tailored for Washington in the film. Coogler cryptically responded, “There have been discussions about all of that and more,” followed by, “Nothing is purely fictional.
Later on, the experienced director elaborated further on his close relationship with Denzel Washington, expressing, “Denzel is essentially family to me now… I’ve been eager to collaborate with him since the beginning. In my opinion, he’s the greatest actor currently alive, and his impact on our culture is immeasurable. We’ve discussed this for quite some time.” Responding to Denzel Washington’s hints about potentially working together on Black Panther 3, Coogler acknowledged, “I was taken aback when he brought it up, but it’s not exactly untrue.
Currently, as I’m typing this, Marvel Studios hasn’t given any public announcement regarding Black Panther 3, and there’s no word yet on whether or not Chadwick Boseman (Washington’s role) will be involved in the film.
