Ryan Coogler recently disclosed some fresh insights about the upcoming developments for Black Panther 3, including the possibility of Denzel Washington joining the cast.
Previously, Ryan Coogler was the director for Black Panther (2018) and its sequel, Black Panver: Wakanda Forever (2022). A third film is currently in development, with news in November 2024 that Coogler will write a role specifically for Denzel Washington in this upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe production.
On Nightcap, Coogler shared updates regarding the potential release of Black Panther 3 and Ryan Coogler’s collaboration with Washington.

About Washington’s potential collaboration, Coogler expressed, “I’ve been eager to team up with Denzel. I truly hope we can make it a reality. My plan is to work with him on that film. If he’s game, absolutely, it will materialize. He’s a living icon and a valuable guide for many of us. He always looks out for us, and now, it’s our turn.
At present, it’s unclear which characters Washington will portray in Black Panther 3, since the specifics of the Marvel Studios film are currently kept confidential. As of now, there is no announced release date for the movie.
Nate Moore, the producer, mentioned that the upcoming movie won’t be set before the events of “The Avengers” when he spoke to Variety recently. As of now, “Avengers: Doomsday” is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026, while “Avengers: Secret Wars” is planned for a premiere on May 7, 2027.
It’s significant to mention that two characters from Black Panther, specifically Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther and Tenoch Huerta as Namor, were revealed as part of the Avengers: Doomsday ensemble earlier this week. However, whether they will also appear in Secret Wars is still uncertain.
You can stream Marvel’s Black Panther and its sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on Disney+. In the first movie, Chadwick Boseman portrays T’Challa, a role he also played in several other MCU films prior to his passing in August 2020.
