As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent in the Call of Duty (CoD) universe, I’ve grown accustomed to the intricacies and nuances that come with each new installment. However, the recent news about Black Ops 6’s Omnimovement feature has left me feeling both exhilarated and somewhat apprehensive.
Black Ops 6 brings several innovative elements at its debut, and one of its most notable additions is a functionality named Omnimovement. This feature allows players to move swiftly in any direction they choose, sprinting, sliding, or diving. Consequently, gamers can display agility akin to John Wick while shooting adversaries mid-air. It’s essential to note that this ability is non-negotiable; the game does not offer an option to deactivate Omnimovement.
According to the most recent Call of Duty podcast, Stephanie Snowden from Activision mentioned that “Omnimovement” is a fundamental gameplay feature which cannot be disabled. Furthermore, Matt Scronce from Treyarch explained that this new movement system applies to every part of the game, including Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies modes, implying that players must get accustomed to it regardless of their preferred mode.
An option you have is the Intelligent Movement feature. This setting is initially deactivated when you begin playing Black Ops 6, as per Scronce’s explanation. However, during your initial gameplay experience, there will be a tutorial to help you familiarize yourself with it. Later on, you can adjust it according to your personal preferences. As Scronce pointed out, the primary objective is to minimize the number of button or key presses required, making it particularly beneficial for those who prefer having sprint assist, mantle assist, and crouch assist activated.
As a long-time fan of the Call of Duty series, I was both excited and apprehensive when Treyarch announced Black Ops 6. Having played every installment since the original Black Ops, I’ve grown accustomed to certain game mechanics, especially the score streak system. So, when they mentioned during their reveal that “traditional score streaks are back,” I breathed a sigh of relief.
