As a dedicated Call of Duty fan with over a decade of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of frustration and resignation when it comes to Black Ops 6’s ongoing battle against cheaters. The recent announcement of hourly sweeps by the Ricochet anti-cheat team is a welcome move, but it seems like a never-ending cycle.
Following the launch of Black Ops 6, a surge of cheating has swept across the newest Call of Duty title. With cheating persisting even after the debut of season one, the game’s anti-cheat squad, Ricochet, is now conducting regular, hourly checks to counteract emerging cheaters.
Black Ops 6 anti-cheat starts “hourly sweeps”
The Ricochet anti-cheat team appears to have grown weary as they’ve suspended over 19,000 players during Season 1, including the game’s top player for cheating. Despite ongoing enhancements to the Ricochet anti-cheat system, the increasing number of in-game hackers seems to be escalating as well.
On Twitter, the developers of the anti-cheat system shared that they are now carrying out regular checks every hour, aiming to remove cheaters from the Ranked Play mode and the associated leaderboards. Furthermore, they’re working diligently to enhance their AI technology for catching potential cheaters before they even join a game.
Despite the Ricochet team’s pledge, enthusiasts of the online FPS series remain largely unfazed. For years, the anti-cheat software has been present, yet cheating remains rampant or even more prevalent than before in Call of Duty. Players are weary of promises due to this ongoing issue.
One player quipped humorously about the situation following the anti-cheat announcement, saying, “With 19K banned and 25K new accounts created!
For years, numerous supporters have expressed concerns over the existing Ricochet anti-cheat system, with several individuals expressing anxiety about potential “shadowbans” that unintentionally affect honest players. Although hackers might create a new account to harass others online, lawful players who are unfortunately ensnared in anti-cheat operations find themselves stuck behind these bans.
