Black Ops 6 devs crack down on abusers, reveal plan to combat them

As a seasoned Call of Duty gamer with countless hours spent in multiplayer battles, I’ve had my fair share of frustrations with cheaters and VPN abusers ruining the gaming experience. The impending launch of Ranked Play in Black Ops 6 fills me with a glimmer of hope that Team Ricochet is taking notice and taking action against such disruptive behavior.

Black Ops 6 is scheduled to launch later this month, and Activision’s internal team dedicated to combating cheaters, Team Ricochet, has announced they will be vigilant against VPN users before the release. VPN abuse occurs when players use a Virtual Private Network to secure simpler matchups, which in turn makes it easier for them to escalate their rankings.

So that’s why I’m so bad at multiplayer

Prior to the launch of Ranked Play on November 21 for Black Ops 6, Treyarch has announced that they will be taking steps to control disruptive behavior, specifically combating boosting. In preparation for this, they have implemented several updates such as improving AFK detection to combat account boosting, adjusting ping thresholds to ensure players play matches in their own region and reduce VPN abuse. This information was shared on the official Call of Duty blog.

“To unlock Ranked Play in Black Ops 6, players will need to win 50 match-made multiplayer matches. This ensures that they’re experienced with multiplayer before they enter the mode and gives #TeamRICOCHET a historical match history to examine before an account enters Ranked Play.”

Additionally, you’ll find a tool called the Replay Analysis Tool elsewhere, capable of re-examining any game to detect unfair play. To bolster security further and maintain fairness, we’ll also conduct manual reviews for player name change requests, especially for those at the Crimson rank or higher within the Ranked Play mode.

On previous occasions, Team Ricochet has made it clear they will take firm action against individuals exploiting the rules. In the trial run of Black Ops 6, they assert that over 12,000 suspect accounts were halted from participating in matches even before they could cheat.

Regardless of their attempts, it was discovered by VideoGamer.com that there had been an increase in alternative anti-cheat software, intended to thwart the measures taken by Ricochet. This unauthorized software promises benefits such as enhanced accuracy in aiming and improved enemy detection during multiplayer contests.

Ranked Play will be arriving to Black Ops on November 21.
