As a long-time Call of Duty enthusiast who has been through numerous seasons and updates, I find myself torn about the recent XP boosts introduced in Black Ops 6 and Warzone. On one hand, as someone who values their time and wants to progress faster through the ranks, the XP boosts are a godsend. They make the grind feel less tedious and more rewarding.
In Black Ops 6 and Warzone, getting an experience point (XP) boost noticeably simplifies your progress through the ranks. Some gamers have raised concerns that recent XP events might be misleading, but Activision persists in providing bonus points for players as they engage in multiplayer and battle royale battles.
With the introduction of the Season 1 Reloaded update, players have an opportunity to acquire a continuous XP boost across the entire Black Ops 6 series, although this may come at a cost that some find disheartening.
CoD XP boosts come with a price
In addition to earning tokens through limited-time events and the battle pass, players now have the opportunity to boost their earnings even more by purchasing the BlackCell in each season. If you decide to buy the premium battle pass, you can earn up to 50% additional experience points compared to those who do not.
New BlackCell Loyalty Bonus incoming: players who obtain two (or more) #BlackOps6 BlackCell seasons will receive an additional 10% Player and Weapon XP boost that will stack with each new season obtained.

Individuals who only acquire the Season 1 BlackCell pass won’t receive any kind of bonus, but those who purchase three seasonal passes can accumulate a maximum of 20% advantage by the time Season 5 arrives. To gain the greatest benefit, purchasing all six BlackCells will reward between 10% and 50%, making it easier to achieve Prestige Master status and level up new weaponry.
Critics argue that requiring payment to access the upgrades in Call of Duty has been met with disapproval, as they believe each update serves primarily as an additional revenue source rather than addressing game issues or enhancing its quality. In the words of one player, “Each new update is just a way to generate more income, not to repair or enhance the game.
Will it work?
Improving your rank in Black Ops 6 and Warzone, with its growing inventory of weapons and the requirement to reach level 1000 for Prestige Master, can sometimes feel like a laborious process. The challenge is heightened by the fact that many weapons have more than 40 separate levels to progress through. XP boosts are particularly appealing due to the inconsistent rate at which XP is earned and the unclear information provided by Treyarch.
If you’ve already purchased the BlackCell, the perks are probably what will bring you back every new season. On the other hand, for those who don’t have the BlackCell, the rewards system should be enticing enough to draw in more players who want to streamline their gameplay like never before.
