BitBasel + VESA

South Beach Bound

As a seasoned crypto artist and speaker, I am thrilled to share my upcoming participation at BitBasel Miami Art Week 2024. This exciting event, taking place from December 3 to December 8 at the Sagamore Hotel South Beach, promises a unique blend of art, technology, and innovation.

This year, BitBasel will control the entire Sagamore Hotel on Miami South Beach for an entire week. My previous appearance with BitBasel was at the Miami Bitcoin Center in 2019, and it’s a special opportunity to join them again. I didn’t realize how prophetic my keynote from back then would become about what we’re seeing today. It feels like Groundhog Day mixed with bananas, resembling Dante’s circles of hell, but all in an effort to guide humanity out of a reversed state. An honorable battle indeed, for legends only.

Despite the rollercoaster ride this adventure has been since its inception, finding myself revisiting essential principles repeatedly as the Ethereum landscape shifts, I’m grateful for having individuals who appreciate my work and share my vision, making them an integral part of this experience. A heartfelt thanks to Lecks and Scarlett for inviting me to be a part of their 2024 show.

Back to the Future

Notice what is on screen during my lecture about all things decentralised in 2019 at BitBasel

In the past, I was frequently expressing my opinions about various topics such as the state of the world being like a burning inferno, the need for reform in our monetary system, the roots of creativity, the prediction that AI would replace many entry-level lawyers and accountants within five years, and my disdain for the absurdities in the art world. Boy, was I off the mark on that one! It appears that the art world has discovered even more ways to touch rock bottom in the Web3 arena. At least back then, SuperRare was just starting out with optimism. My overly hopeful self once thought that blockchain technology would bring greater transparency to the art world. Ha! What a laugh.

To sum it up: During my presentation, I included both divine inspiration and a banana in my visuals, which will be combined for the 2024 BitBasel exhibition. This artwork critiques the West’s current direction while offering ideas on revitalization. The avant-garde represents the opposite of this predicament, and I continue to embrace it. Ultimately, I believe that my work will be widely acknowledged as intuitive. For now, I must juggle roles as an artist and cultural critic, although it can feel peculiar at times, it’s essential someone takes on the task.

I’m Potency

I’m Potency will be on show, infamous now from the precious SuperRare debacle.
The NFT comes with a physical canvas print, painted over with acrylics, which launches an AR animation.

I wrote an article here called “Proof of censorship” recently on the substance.
Here is the longer original tweet as my “submission” for the competition.

The next exhibit features the live NFT version of the BitRam artwork, which creatively explores the mythology surrounding Bitcoin. While Bitcoin continues its journey, reaching ever-higher numerical milestones, it’s crucial that it carves out a secure space for itself away from the inflationary machinery of traditional fiat currencies.

The initial artwork in the animation is accompanied by a physical, artistically crafted canvas piece, which can be transformed into an Augmented Reality (AR) version using the Artivive app. The price for this item is 9 Ether.

At the Swiss Web3 Conference, which took place earlier in 2024 during Art Basel in Switzerland, a physical re-creation of BitRam (one out of three for sale) was exhibited. The remaining two-thirds and an accompanying 1/1 animation NFT are now available for purchase at BitBasel.

Renaissance 360

Lecks requested that I retrieve some multidimensional content to display on a screen, which I was thrilled about. The collection video featuring some of the top-notch creations from Asvoria (upcoming), Superworld, and Cornerstone Land will be showcased as part of an extensive metaverse montage.

Why are we not allowed to ask, in art, the most basic of questions. Why can’t we be inspired by excellence, beauty, harmony and the spirit? Time after time, we just revel in this mud like pigs with no future. At least the pigs derive some nutrients and skin care from their play, whilst we just reduce ourselves to animals with no instincts.

Proof of Effort

2017 marked the first Miami-themed artwork I produced, and the reworked version is still for sale today at a price of 1 Bitcoin. I chose to maintain the tradition of pricing some early works at 1 BTC when bought directly from me. Over time, I’ve had to create others without this price point, as approximately 10k serves as a sort of “screw you” money for artists in the scene. These historic pieces are valuable, so if you wish to join the ranks of collectors, my hat is off to you! You can access them only through demonstrating your collector’s effort. I have preserved this piece as my final work, making it accessible only with proof of your dedication.

I’ll always be grateful to Moe Levin, the mastermind behind the North American Bitcoin Conference, for providing me with my initial platform to display my artwork in January 2018. It’s quite cool to share this space with someone like Joel from the Bad Crypto Podcast, who was there in the background. I even had the pleasure of gifting a 1/50 signed print to Moe as a token of my appreciation.

At $100,000, the 6×3 ft repaint projects remain relatively affordable compared to the expenses that some initial comprehensive artworks might accumulate in the future, after a period of calm and stability has been reached.
