As a long-time fan of the Fatal Fury series, I’ve seen my fair share of roster additions and character reveals. But none have piqued my interest quite like Billy Kane’s unveiling for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.
In the roster for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, another familiar character has been announced this week. This time, it’s Billy Kane, Geese Howard’s former right-hand man, who makes an appearance. He has left behind his distinctive UK bandana but carries on with his chain staff and fire-throwing skills. Additionally, he brings some new moves to the table.
As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled to share that I got a sneak peek at Billy Kane’s latest transformation in the Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves roster. In a recent trailer release, SNK unveiled his fresh new look, quite distinct from his signature bandana-wearing thug persona he’s had since debuting in the original Fatal Fury. While it’s not my usual cup of tea, I must admit that his fighting style seems more refined than ever before (provided they’ve addressed those whiff punish risks that have been a persistent issue for him, especially in The King of Fighters XV). One move that particularly caught my attention is when Billy extends his pole for a long-range strike and then reels enemies back towards him to continue the combo. Can’t wait to see what else he brings to the table!
At EVO 2024, SNK introduced Kevin Rian as the second notable character for City of the Wolves. Previously known for his brutal policing in Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Rian was highly regarded among players due to his top-tier abilities. On the other hand, Billy Kane has had a mid to bottom-tier status in Fatal Fury and King of Fighters games because of his unusual hit and damage boxes, making him vulnerable even after landing hits. However, with City of the Wolves, SNK is aiming for greater balance among fighters, offering hope that Kane may finally have an opportunity to showcase his strengths instead of being consistently outmatched.
