BENTGABLENITS and Teenage Engineering’s BGN–11 Collab Transforms Speakers Into Artifacts

Summary

  • BENTGABLENITS and Teenage Engineering reveal the BGN–11, featuring 10 handcrafted speakers housed in reimagined 1930s dollhouses
  • The collab will launch on June 27 with an immersive NYC installation, where collectible designs and artist-inspired pieces will also be available

Teaming up for the first time, BENTGABLENITS and Teenage Engineering are revealing a special limited collaboration: the BGN–11. Only 10 exclusive pieces will be made, each one crafted from reinterpreted 1930s metal dollhouses, creating an enticing fusion of retro design and cutting-edge audio technology. Each piece includes a fully operational OD-11 speaker, carefully placed within a distinctive structure that has been painstakingly sewn, wired, and weathered by hand. This detailed process converts nostalgic trinkets into artistic masterpieces, connecting the past and present through sound.

This exclusive offering isn’t just a blend of sound and aesthetics; it’s a tangible exploration of nostalgia and storytelling. The creators of BENTGABLENITS, Brenda Bent, Karen Gable, and Angelo Nitsopoulos, view the project as a conversation between the artisanal feel of traditional craftsmanship and the cutting-edge minimalism of Teenage Engineering’s technology. As Gable explains, “We saw the speaker as symbolizing home,” adding that “home” was something they felt comfortable exploring. Consequently, it evolved into an endeavor about creating a home environment.

The BGN-11 embodies a common philosophy between the two brands, which stems from their founders’ lifelong passion for discovering and reimagining often overlooked items. This shared ethos encompasses respect for history while embracing contemporary creativity. Although the brands differ in aesthetics, one drawing inspiration from vintage textures, and the other from streamlined modernism, they unite through their mutual commitment to craftsmanship and storytelling. According to Nitsopoulos, “We find beauty in things that may seem obscure.” This is an ongoing conversation between past and present, as well as memory and renewal.

The BGN–11 will launch on June 27 via a

special website
. This is accompanied by an immersive three-day installation at 131 Greene Street, New York City. The installation will also showcase hand-beaded vintage artist and musician T-shirts, along with other Teenage Engineering collectible editions — inviting visitors to fully engage with this unique fusion of art, sound and nostalgia.
