After much anticipation fueled by the cliffhanger conclusion of season 3, Netflix has officially revealed which Bridgerton sibling will take center stage in the upcoming season. On July 23rd, Netflix unveiled an announcement video featuring a sneak peek of the upcoming season’s most intriguing face-off. This revelation came with the invitation of Benedict to join the fray. For three consecutive seasons, he has skillfully dodged making genuine commitments. However, love’s allure is impossible to escape forever. It’s now his turn to take center stage.
The announcement video predominantly comprises old clips of Benedict from past episodes (regrettably, no fresh footage for analysis is included). However, there’s a novel addition: a scene where Luke Thompson takes on his new role as the show’s leading man. In this segment, someone hands him a suit for an upcoming masquerade ball. As a devoted fan of Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series and someone who has eagerly devoured every book since discovering them years ago, I can hardly contain my excitement as I pen these words down. The recent confirmation that season 4 of Netflix’s Bridgerton adaptation will delve into Benedict’s love story is music to my ears!
Before taking on the main role in season 4, Benedict underwent a significant transformation in season 3. He developed strong feelings for Lady Tilley Arnold and discovered his pansexuality through a relationship with her and Paul. By the finale of season 3, he had left Tilley behind despite her offer to be exclusive with him. Our leading man is maturing and preparing for new romantic experiences!
In the finale of season 3, “Bridgerton” hinted at the masquerade ball and revealed a surprising twist: Francesca’s romantic partner is now of the same gender as herself. With the momentum building for her character, we can expect more developments in Francesca’s love story in season 4, potentially making her the central figure in an upcoming season yet to be renewed.
Although there were initial plans for filming season 4 of the show this summer, possibly starting as early as June, the production schedule has been pushed back.
