Benedict Cumberbatch-Led The Roses Has Release Date Set for 2025

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the long-awaited film featuring Benedict Cumberbatch, titled “The Roses,” has at last been given an official release date! This captivating production, inspired by Warren Adler’s 1981 novel and the 1989 film adaptation of The War of the Roses, casts Benedict as Theo and Olivia Colman as Ivy. Can hardly wait for this one!

The Roses starring Benedict Cumberbatch gets August 2025 release date

A recent press briefing has confirmed the release date for The Roses to be August 29, 2025.

In Jay Roach’s movie, I step into the shoes of Theo, a seemingly perfect husband and father who shares life with my wife Ivy. We’ve got it all – successful careers, loving family, and happiness that seems unparalleled. But, fate has other plans when Theo’s professional world suddenly hits a snag. Meanwhile, Ivy’s career is skyrocketing, stirring up feelings of competition and unearthing long-suppressed emotions as we navigate through this challenging phase in our seemingly idyllic life together.

In addition to Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman, the movie “The Roses” boasts a remarkable ensemble cast that includes Andy Samberg, Kate McKinnon, Ncuti Gatwa, Jamie Demetriou, Allison Janney, Zoë Chao, and Belinda Bromilow. Each of these actors will play crucial roles within the film. The screenplay for this upcoming movie was penned by Tony McNamara. Additionally, Jay Roach, Michelle Graham, Ed Sinclair, Adam Ackland, Leah Clarke, and Tom Carver are credited as producers, according to Variety.

Roach’s upcoming film version will be the second time that Adler’s renowned novel is brought to life on the silver screen. The first screen adaptation of Adler’s work emerged in 1989, directed by Danny DeVito, who also appeared in it. In this movie, Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner played the lead roles. The film was a hit and received one BAFTA nomination and three Golden Globe nods.

In his announcement for the new film, Searchlight Pictures president Matthew Greenfield described it as a hilariously exaggerated yet profoundly human tale. With Jay directing, and Benedict Cumberbatch, Olivia Wilde, and Tony Collette on board, we’ve got an exceptional ensemble bringing it to reality.
