As a huge fan of both Ben Stiller and Rebel Wilson, I’m absolutely thrilled to see their upcoming projects, Nutcrackers and The Deb, respectively, being showcased at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The first-look images have only added fuel to my excitement!
As a film enthusiast who has attended multiple editions of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), I’m thrilled to share my excitement over the recent unveiling of the first-look images for two highly anticipated films: Ben Stiller’s “Nutcrackers” and Rebel Wilson’s “The Deb.” Having witnessed the energy and buzz surrounding TIFF in past years, I can only imagine the anticipation building up among fans and industry professionals alike as we approach this year’s event.
As a gamer, I’m excited to share that in the upcoming movie “Nutcrackers,” I’ll be immersed in the role of a workaholic man named Mike. Trusted with the care of my orphaned nephews, this comedy feature is directed by David Gordon Green and will also star some amazing talents like Linda Cardellini, Edi Patterson, Tim Heidecker, and Toby Huss. So buckle up for an unforgettable adventure!
Simultaneously, Wilson’s first directorial project, “The Deb,” is a musical comedy that focuses on two teenage cousins as they attempt to secure dates for the debutante ball in a quaint Australian village. The ensemble features Charlotte MacInnes, Natalie Abbott, Tara Morice, Shane Jacobson, and Wilson himself.

When will Nutcrackers & The Deb premiere at TIFF 2024?
As a gamer, I’m excited to share that “Nutcrackers” is the film kicking off this year’s TIFF on my calendar, with its premiere scheduled for September 5 at Roy Thomson Hall as part of the Gala program. On the other hand, “The Deb” will make its debut a little later on September 15. These two films join an impressive lineup that includes Ron Howard’s “Eden,” Marielle Heller’s “Nightbitch,” John Crowley’s “We Live in Time,” and the animated feature “The Wild Robot.” The festival itself will run from September 5 to 15. Can’t wait to experience these movies at TIFF!
After Wilson publicly criticized The Deb’s producers on Instagram for allegedly preventing the movie from being screened at TIFF, the producers responded by filing a lawsuit against him for defamation.
“The Deb was chosen to showcase her debut film at Toronto Film Festival’s closing night, a significant opportunity for first-time female directors. This achievement is immense and exciting. However, the disappointment came when the business associates connected to the production announced that the movie couldn’t make its premiere there. Such news was beyond disheartening for Wilson.”
