As a long-time admirer of the comedic brilliance that is Jake Johnson, I am absolutely thrilled to see him take the lead role in “The Dink” pickleball comedy! The ensemble cast, featuring Ben Stiller, Mary Steenburgen, Ed Harris, and former tennis champion Andy Roddick, promises a hilarious and star-studded spectacle.
Actor Jake Johnson, known for his role in New Girl, has accepted the lead part in an upcoming pickleball comedy called “The Dink”. Apart from him, stars like Ben Stiller (famous for Zoolander), Mary Steenburgen (Step Brothers), Ed Harris (Westworld), and former tennis champion Andy Roddick are set to appear as supporting characters. Filming is scheduled to start in November in Los Angeles.
“In this movie, an ex-tennis champion named Johnson finds himself struggling to save a sinking tennis club while seeking his father’s approval. To achieve both goals, he is compelled to break a sacred promise and step onto a pickleball court – something he had vowed never to do.
Who’s involved in The Dink movie?
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that “The Dink” will be helmed by the talented Josh Greenbaum, who’s penned down an exceptional screenplay with Sean Clements. Not only will I have the pleasure of being part of this stellar cast, but Ben Stiller and Johnson are also on board as producers, along with John Lesher, Rob Paris, and Mike Witherill. The trio, Greenbaum, Clements, and Rick Steele, will serve as executive producers for this project. “The Dink” is a joint production between Red Hour Films and Rivulet Films, with the latter taking on full financing responsibilities. Can’t wait to see this come to life!
After appearing in The Dink, Stiller will next appear in David Gordon Green’s comedy-drama film Nutcrackers, which debuted at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival. This is a new acting project for Stiller since his last one in 2022 titled Bleecker. Additionally, Stiller is set to star alongside Colin Farrell in Belly of the Beast.
