Actor Luis Gerardo Méndez from Narcos: Mexico has teamed up with Ben Affleck for Netflix’s forthcoming crime thriller, named “Animals”.
Apart from acting, Ben Affleck will additionally take on the role of director for the upcoming movie. The screenplay for this project has been penned by Connor McIntyre and Billy Ray. Although specifics about the film are being kept confidential, it is anticipated that the plot revolves around a kidnapping incident. Filming for the project is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles.
Who else is in the Animals cast?
Adriana Paz, known for her role in “Locked Up,” and Emilia Pérez are set to collaborate with Méndez on the project as well. This dynamic duo will be working alongside Gillian Anderson, an Emmy winner from “Sex Education” and “Scoop,” and Kerry Washington, another Emmy winner recognized for her work in “The Six Triple Eight” and “Django Unchained.” Additionally, Steven Yeun, who has been nominated for an Oscar in his roles on “Beef” and “The Walking Dead,” is also part of the team.
Affleck, Matt Damon, and Dani Bernfeldm will team up to produce a crime thriller movie under their banner, Artists Equity. Brad Weston and Collin Creighton, through Makeready, are also producers for the film. Michael Joe, Kevin Halloran, and Lucy Damon from Artists Equity will serve as executive producers.
Óscar Méndez, who first stepped into directing with Netflix’s Techno Boys, is a well-known Mexican actor. He initially gained popularity by playing roles in the 2013 dark comedy film titled The Noble Family. His latest acting stint was in Skincare, a thriller movie directed by Austin Peters. This film featured him alongside Elizabeth Banks, Lewis Pullman, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, and Nathan Fillion.
Apart from his role in “Méndez”, this actor has also been credited for work in films such as “Me Time”, “Half Brothers”, “Charlie’s Angels”, “Murder Mystery”, “Rebirth”, and many more. On the television front, he has acted in shows like “The Resort”, “Who Killed Him?”, and Netflix’s initial Spanish-language comedy series “Club de Cuervos” among others. Additionally, he made an appearance in “Narcos: Mexico” during its third season, portraying Victor Tapia.
Conversely, Paz has gained recognition through her performances in films such as Chupa, This Is Not a Comedy, Death’s Roulette, A World for Raúl, La Rebelión, Coyote, and others.
