Bella Hadid Sues Adidas Over Controversial Ad Campaign

As a gamer and someone who follows the news closely, I can’t help but feel disappointed and frustrated by the recent turn of events surrounding Adidas and Bella Hadid. I remember hearing about the original SL72 trainers back in 1972, but it wasn’t until recently that I became aware of the controversy surrounding their re-release and Hadid’s involvement.

I’m thrilled that the 2024 Olympics are approaching, and Paris is getting ready to host this global event. In celebration of this exciting news, Adidas has unveiled a fresh ad campaign for their SL72 trainers, which are based on the original design from 1972. As a fan, I can’t wait to get my hands on these Olympic-themed trainers and add them to my collection.

The tragic events of the Munich Olympics overshadowed the initial release of SL72. During the games, members of Palestinian militant group Black September invaded the Olympic village, taking the lives of two Israeli team members on the spot. Nine more Israeli athletes were abducted and ultimately killed during a botched rescue operation.

I, as a gamer, wasn’t trying to bring up memories of the Munich massacre with the new SL72s release from Adidas. But, when they chose Bella Hadid for their campaign, who is known for her advocacy for Palestine, the Israeli authorities accused us of deliberately referencing this tragic event.

After Adidas withdrew their ads, Hadid is considering taking legal action against the company, as reported by TMZ. Despite her current deal with Adidas, this move could potentially end their business relationship.

Bella Hadid Removed From Adidas Ad Campaign

The Israeli X or Twitter representative of Israel criticized Adidas for choosing Hadid as their campaign ambassador, expressing concern over her and her father’s history of spreading false accusations and antisemitic beliefs against Jews.

Adidas recently launched a new campaign for their shoes to highlight the 1972 Munich Olympics. Eleven Israelis were murdered by Palestinian terrorists during the Munich Olympics. Guess who the face of their campaign is? Bella Hadid, a half-Palestinian model who has a history of spreading antisemitism and calling for violence against Israelis and Jews.

Soon after the Tweet, Adidas pulled the ads featuring Hadid.

They shared that they will be making adjustments to the remaining part of their campaign, and acknowledged the unfortunate associations drawn to past tragedies.

Bella Hadid To Sue Adidas

Based on TMZ’s report, Hadid is gearing up for a potential lawsuit against Adidas. She feels that the company hasn’t assumed sufficient public responsibility for the failing campaign and that she has been unfairly blamed as a scapegoat.

“Many businesses ended our collaborations unexpectedly. Some friends cut off contact, including those I’d shared weekly dinners with for over seven years – now, they no longer invite me to their homes.”

Based on information from TMZ’s sources, Hadid is reportedly displeased that Adidas produced an advertisement linking their product to the Munich massacre of 1972. As a result, she is strongly considering taking legal action against the German sportswear company.

For decades, Hadid has openly criticized Israel’s actions and vowed to keep voicing her opinions on the Palestinian issue. Consequently, she has faced professional repercussions and lost relationships because of her stance, as she shared in a past interview.
