Behind the Scenes of A24’s Gripping War Movie: Intense Cast Experiences Revealed!

A new first-look video for A24’s Warfare has been released.

The upcoming movie titled “Warfare,” penned and directed jointly by Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland, is set to hit U.S. theaters in April. Notably, Mendoza is an Iraq War veteran who played a role in the supervision of the military aspects in Garland’s previous film, “Civil War.

What happens in the Warfare video?

In the video titled Warfare, the cast shares their experiences of making the film set against the backdrop of the Iraq War. Charles Melton mentions that they underwent a three-week training program to truly embody the Navy SEAL culture, while Will Poulter expresses that the movie will undoubtedly be one of the most significant and moving projects in their careers.

In the video, Garland shares that Ray and he collaborated extensively on the movie “Civil War.” Around the midway point, discussions about a film Ray wished to produce began. The whole team, including myself, felt a tremendous weight of accountability.

The movie Warfare is written and directed by Ray Mendoza (Iraq War veteran) and Alex Garland (Civil War, 28 Days Later). This film immerses viewers into the experience of an American Navy SEAL platoon as they are stationed within an Iraqi family’s home, observing the progression of U.S. forces through insurgent territory. The plot offers a raw, firsthand account of contemporary warfare, portraying the story in real-time and drawing from the recollections of those who have actually lived it.

Among Melton and Pulter, the ensemble of Warfare also features me, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Joseph Quinn, Cosmo Jarvis, Kit Connor, Finn Bennett, Taylor John Smith, Michael Gandolfini, Adain Bradley, Noah Centineo, Evan Holtzman, and Henrique Zaga.

Warfare will be released in United States theaters on April 11, 2025, from A24.
