On August 15, 2024, the long-awaited movie titled Thangalaan, featuring Chiyaan Vikram and Malavika Mohanan, hit the big screens at last. This film, directed by Pa Ranjith, offers a captivating narrative set in the time of the British Raj, delving into themes of oppression and endurance.

The action-adventure story revolves around a tribal chief, portrayed by Chiyaan Vikram, whose life is central. In this narrative, he collaborates with a British general named Lord Clement during an expedition, which was British-led, to discover gold buried in mines located in Kolar.

To safeguard his tribe’s heritage and protect them, Thangalaan decides to form an alliance with his oppressor, who has offered him a share of gold in return for aid. Blending elements of political scheming and mythic motifs, the film is a thrilling, action-packed drama.

Additionally starring Parvathy Thiruvothu, Daniel Caltagirone, Pasupathy, Hari Krishnan Anbudurai, Vettai Muthukumar, and Krish Hassan in significant parts of the movie.

1. The movie is co-financed through a partnership between Jio Studios, Neelam Productions, and Studio Green. GV Prakash took care of the film’s music. “Thangalaan” was distributed in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada languages.

It’s important to note that the film starring Chiyan Vikram, Thangalaan, went up against four other films on Independence Day this year: Ravi Teja’s Mr Bachchan, Ram Pothineni’s Double iSmart, and Keerthy Suresh’s Raghu Thatha.
