As a lifelong reader and fan of classic literature, I was initially skeptical when I heard about Rebecca Kenney’s retelling of “The Great Gatsby,” titled “Beautiful Villain.” However, my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to give it a chance. Boy, was I in for a treat!

I absolutely enjoy reinterpreting stories, and if there’s one tale I hadn’t considered in a new light, it’s “The Great Gatsby” as presented in the captivating retelling called “Beautiful Villain” .

At first, I was apprehensive about “Beautiful Villain” due to its intimidating title. However, Kenney managed to make the story so captivating that I found myself unable to put it down. Frankly speaking, I didn’t anticipate enjoying this book as much as I did.

After finishing this captivating book I received from Sourcebooks Casablanca as an advance reader copy, I can’t help but reflect on its story and immerse myself in its world once more. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to read it before its release.

Beautiful Villain is an absolute must-read this summer.

I used to be captivated by F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic, The Great Gatsby, as a teenage reader. But I never thought I’d encounter a version that transformed it into a fantasy romance. Surprisingly, this book drew me in right from the beginning. If you’re in the mood for some enchanting love stories, then Beautiful Villain is an absolute must-read on your To Be Read list.

In this tale, Daisy Finnegan, our leading lady, attends an opulent bash, pondering the identity of its enigmatic host. Her curiosity is eventually quenched when she discovers it’s none other than her old friend, Jay Gatsby. Sadly, their past circumstances had kept them apart for years, and it’s evident that Gatsby has built quite a reputation for himself in the interim.

As a huge fan, I can’t help but share my take on this tale: I ended up dating Tom, but his toxic behavior eventually led us to split. Yet, Tom just couldn’t move on. But little did he know, the more he clung to me, the closer I drew to Jay. And as our bond deepened, I uncovered the truth about why Jay is the complex character that he is. Couldn’t help myself – there was a hint of Twilight‘s Edward and Jacob in this storyline!

As a literature enthusiast with a soft spot for classic novels, I’ve had the pleasure of reading my fair share of timeless tales. Yet none have quite captured my heart like F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby.” This book, dear reader, is more than just a classic – it’s a passionate, sizzling masterpiece that leaves an indelible mark on one’s soul.
