As a reader who’s no stranger to the rollercoaster of emotions that comes with a good romance novel, I can confidently say that Shanora Williams’ latest masterpiece, “Beautiful Broken Love,” is a must-read for any fan of the genre.
Whenever you embark on a novel by an unfamiliar author, it’s a blend of apprehension and anticipation. This is exactly how I felt as I began reading “Beautiful Broken Love” penned by Shanora Williams.
Shanora Williams is well-known for penning numerous bestselling books, such as the “Cane” series, “The Wife Before,” and “The Perfect Ruin.” With my anticipation high, I delved into “Beautiful Broken Love,” expecting a deeply emotional read.
Prior to delving into this novel, I’d like to provide some advisory warnings since it centers around our protagonist, Davina, who is grappling with the loss of her husband. The story tackles intense emotions such as grief, guilt, and complex feelings that may be challenging. Please ensure you are prepared to engage with such content as it can be emotionally heavy.
If you can manage the material, it’s so engaging that you’ll find yourself compelled to keep reading without pause. I must express my gratitude to Meagan Beatie Communications for bringing this book to my attention, and for providing me with an advance reader copy as well as a finished edition.
Beautiful Broken Love is an emotional romance from start to finish.
Entering “Beautiful Broken Love“, I was clueless about what lay ahead. Given its subject matter, it’s advisable to come prepared with a basic understanding. The narrative focuses on Davina, a woman who has immersed herself in work following her husband’s demise. She’s even attempting to secure an endorsement from an NBA player for her skincare company, Golden Oil Co.
Right from their initial encounter, Deke Bishop feels an immediate pull towards Davina and yearns to learn more about her. Amazingly, he manages to persuade her for a dinner date, unaware that she’s already married. Accepting her terms, they commence an awkward friendship where Davina shows no signs of interest beyond this arrangement. As time passes and they continue to interact, it becomes evident that both harbor feelings for each other. However, Davina is still grappling with loss and has much to work through emotionally.
In the end, what I found captivating in this book was the authenticity of the characters, Davina and Deke. While Davina grapples with the sorrow of her husband’s demise, she simultaneously strives to progress. Yet, she puts forth great effort not to succumb to her feelings for Deke, but their bond ultimately proves unavoidable. On the other hand, Deke harbors his own past wounds, which are gradually revealed as the narrative unfolds. Watching them rely on each other and discover methods to bolster one another was truly awe-inspiring.
The captivating tale titled “Beautiful Broken Love” moved me deeply, despite my current relationship status. It might not be suitable for those who are grieving or currently experiencing grief. However, if you take a moment to read the author’s note, you’ll understand why Shanora Williams penned this book and comprehend its deep significance to her. I must say, it takes immense courage and resilience to write such a poignant story, and Shanora deserves nothing but praise for her accomplishment.
Since we’re in December now, it might not be the cheerful, light-hearted story you’d prefer at this time. However, if you can cope with its themes, “Beautiful Broken Love” is a strong romance novel that’s worth reading.
Beautiful Broken Love by Shanora Williams is out now where books are sold.
