Beau DeMayo Update: More Details on Sexual Misconduct Allegations Surface

As a seasoned gamer with a keen eye for storytelling and a deep appreciation for the X-Men franchise, I find myself both shocked and disheartened by the latest developments surrounding Beau DeMayo‘s firing from X-Men ’97.

More details regarding X-Men ’97 creator Beau DeMayo’s firing have surfaced.

In March 2024, DeMayo was let go from his position as lead writer for X-Men ’97 on Disney+ following the completion of the first two seasons. At that point, Marvel declined to provide an explanation for DeMayo’s termination.

On Thursday, August 15, 2024, DeMayo claimed that his writing credit for X-Men ’97 was taken away following his posting of X-Men fan art on Instagram in support of Gay Pride. In a statement, DeMayo mentioned, “I’ll share more details later, but I need to temporarily avoid social media to find a safer environment where I can openly express my identity as LGBTQ+ and my love for comics. Keep an eye out for updates.”

Marvel said in a statement provided to The Hollywood Reporter that they ended their association with Mr. DeMayo in March 2024 after conducting an internal investigation. Due to the seriousness of the results, they cut off all ties with him promptly, and he no longer has any connection with Marvel.

What are the new details about Beau DeMayo’s firing from X-Men ’97?

As reported by Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider, it is alleged that DeMayo shared pictures of himself with multiple young male colleagues. These photos depicted DeMayo in different stages of undress, often wearing superhero costumes and assuming sexually suggestive poses that could potentially serve as inspiration for the show.

DeMayo was reportedly asked to stop sending these pictures but continued to do so nonetheless.

As a devoted admirer, I’d like to share some troubling allegations that have surfaced about DeMayo. According to Sneider’s report, DeMayo is said to have inappropriately groped an assistant on multiple occasions and exhibited both emotional and physical abuse towards staff members.

Additionally, it’s been mentioned that DeMayo was dismissed from Netflix’s The Witcher because of conduct concerns akin to what had transpired before. According to Sneider’s report, DeMayo’s producer credit on X-Men ’97 Season 2 is said to be removed, and Marvel is currently revising the new season’s script.

At the moment, DeMayo has not addressed the accusations that have been made against him. In response to Marvel’s declaration, DeMayo posted on X with the statement, “The truth will be unveiled. Following their disappointing stint on Disney Plus, Marvel is attempting to deceive with claims of contract violations over tweets. It’s unfortunate that it has come to this, but not entirely unexpected. Keep an eye out for updates.”
