Artwork depicting characters from the abandoned Batman project titled Project Sabbath, developed by Warner Bros. Games Montreal, has resurfaced. In this instance, we get a clear view of the main character, Damian Wayne.
Canceled Batman Arkham project was set 10 years after Batman: Arkham Knight
A fresh post on Batman Arkham Videos features some brand-new concept art from a scrapped project. The initial sketch presents Damian Wayne, Bruce Wayne’s son and future Batman, without his mask. Given that Project Sabbath is set 10 years after Batman: Arkham Knight, it explains why Damian appears older than in typical portrayals of the character.
Artwork for a cancelled 2015 video game titled “Project Sabbath” by WB Games Montréal, featuring Damian Wayne, has resurfaced and been shared online by character artist Rodrigue Pralier. In addition to other elements, the post showcases an older Bruce Wayne with a grey beard and cane. Images of the infamous villain Killer Croc are displayed as well, and they seem slightly altered from his depiction in earlier Batman: Arkham games. The Huntress’ full model is also featured prominently. Another character makes an appearance, but their identity remains unclear; some fans speculate that it might be Dollmaker, who had a significant role in the New 52 storyline of Detective Comics.
Previously, we’ve unveiled the concept art for Project Sabbath. In 2021, a version of Damian Wayne dressed as Batman, complete with a suit, was featured, emanating strong Batman Beyond feelings due to its sleek, narrow bat insignia in red. Moreover, a fully suited Bruce Wayne in an altered Batman Arkham costume was also displayed.
In recent times, video games featuring DC characters haven’t been particularly successful. For instance, Gotham Knights by WB Games Montreal was launched in 2022 but received a mix of positive and negative feedback. More significantly, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League from Rocksteady failed when it came out in 2024. Earlier this year, Warner Bros. abandoned its Wonder Woman video game project and shut down Monolith Productions, the studio responsible for the game’s development.
